At the time of his marriage Punjab was infected with plague
he went to shimla with wife , with Rs. 25 from his mother
He went for interview of typist job but was rejected
he was roaming on roads there .. and went into a hotel to have some water and
later asked the manager there for a job
when manager spoke to him he was impressed and gave clerk job with 50 rs salary
he joined the job , and worked hard
later a new manager called clark came and gave him a promotion as secrectary
later clark took a new hotel in shimla for lease and made Mohan sing oberai as mgr
later while leave india clark asked Mohan sing oberai to run the hotel and send him the profits
this was the turning point for Mohan sing oberai
then only he saw a paper ad about a GRAND hotel for lease in kolkata for sale as there was cholera this hotel was on loses
he took that hotel also for lease and renamed it as OBEROI GRAND HOTEL
like this he continuously kept taking the hotels on lease in big cities and near to tourism
like this Oberoi hotels have expanded over the years and became a brand and culture for india
